We were blessed to have a team to visit the ministry last week and serve as the invited speakers for campaigns with some of the local churches that the ministry team that I have joined have relationships with. It was an opportunity to come alongside these pastors for their campaigns, or “revivals” as we referred to them when I was growing up in the Baptist church. The idea behind the campaigns is that they last through several services that usually focus on a specific topic.
The topic for these campaigns was “the Holy Spirit.” Each service approached the topic in a slightly different way and covered different aspects about what it means to desire the Holy Spirit, to be in the presence of the Holy Spirit, to be convicted by the Spirit, and to walk in the Spirit.
The experience was both enlightening and challenging. At times it was overwhelming and even uncomfortable. Simply put, it was POWERFUL. It is powerful to approach the topic of the Holy Spirit with an open heart and mind. It is powerful to experience what happens when the Holy Spirit “shows up.” People made decisions for the Lord. People were healed. Lives were changed.
It was a different experience in this new country that I now call home. The “church” setting was different for me. The language of worship was different for me. The method of praise and prayer was different for me. However, the Holy Spirit was and always is the same.
The Holy Spirit unites all followers of Christ . . . no matter the setting, or the language, or the way things are done. At a time where a lot of things are new and changing for me, it was nice to be reminded of that.
I praise God for how He uses the ministry that we are involved in to minister to me when I need it most. God is so good. I’m excited to continue to share my journey with you so that you may catch a glimpse of what He is up to in me and in this place . . . It is POWERFUL!
Continuing to lift you up in prayer Kristin.
